Jeffrey Driban, PhD, AT Ret, CSCS is a Professor in the Department of Population and Quantitative Health Sciences at UMass Chan Medical School.
Dr. Driban received his Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training from the University of Delaware. He received a Master of Education and Doctor of Philosophy in Kinesiology with an Emphasis in Athletic Training from Temple University. He completed a post-doctoral research fellowship in the Division of Rheumatology at Tufts Medical Center.
His research explores novel risk factors and measures to facilitate more efficient clinical trials and a better understanding of osteoarthritis and its potential subtypes. Dr. Driban also aims to raise awareness about osteoarthritis and promote primary and secondary prevention strategies.
He envisions a faster therapeutic pipeline relying on clinical trials with fewer participants and a shorter duration by selecting ideal subsets of the population and offering novel sensitive outcomes.
He envisions reducing the global burden of osteoarthritis with prevention strategies that encourage physical activity and reduce exposure to highly prevalent risk factors.
Dr. Driban serves as a task group chair for the Osteoarthritis Action Alliance. He also serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Rheumatology, BMC Musculoskeletal Disorders, Journal of Athletic Training, and Arthritis Care and Research.
